Becoming a Better ME: Exercising

I’m not a huge fan of exercising. In fact, I tend to avoid it. I know it’s awful. The thing is, I’m not lazy – I’ll take the stairs rather than the elevator. I prefer to park far away from the mall rather than find a close spot. I just don’t work out.

Until last week. I’ve been going to a 21-day “boot camp” to work out with a friend from work. The first week, my motivation was phenomenal. I was all for getting back in shape. But, boy, it’s hard work! I’m tired, sore, and feeling out of shape.

Let me be honest with you: I’m not a big girl. I don’t consider myself skinny either. But, I’m tired of everyone asking why in the world I’m taking this class. It’s frustrating. No one really knows how I look under my clothes, how I feel about my body. If I feel like I could use a little tightening, a little firming up, what’s so wrong with that? It’s frustrating that in this society, many people only think you should exercise or eat healthy if you are overweight. Shouldn’t we all be working to maintain trim, healthy bodies?
