Back to Blogging and Grown Up Play Dates

I realized that it’s finally time to come back to blogging when I once again start thinking: I should blog about that. I should tweet that person. I want to blog about this photo. So, I’m back. Hopefully I’ll be here more often and more reliably.

As a kid, I’d go with a bag of toys and books, a flashlight in hand, to my neighbor’s house. Knock on her window. Play, laugh, talk for hours. Talk about friends and boys. Trek back to my house thankful for the flashlight.

These days, I go with a bag of papers to grade and a glass of wine, a flashlight in hand, to my neighbor’s house. Knock on her sliding glass door. Grade papers, laugh, talk for hours. Talk about friends and men. Trek back to my house thankful for the flashlight.

Things aren’t so different, yet they really are. Our conversations are more serious. Our actions are more meaningful. Our drinks are better. Yet, there is so much that lies beneath the surface.

And, honestly? I love it.
